Worship at Immanuel Richton Park

WELCOME BACK TO IMMANUEL BEGINNING JUNE 28TH!

Psalm 122: I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

As the mature folks would say: Good Lord Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise! Immanuel will reopen for public worship on Sunday June 28th.  There will be a great deal of work involved to make this a reality. And patience and participation will be needed by us all. My prayer is that Love is our guide, for it is the Love of Jesus Christ why we are gathering in the first place and love for each other. So, as we gather we do so rejoicing that through all of this GOD HAS BEEN AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE WITH US!

In Keeping with Phase 4 Guidelines for public gatherings we cannot gather in groups over 50 and our time spent in the building will be limited. In order to do this effectively, lovingly and safely, here will be the initial changes you will notice as we return:

Worship Times- Sunday worship will be at 9am and 11am starting June 28.

Worship format: The format will be the same as we have experiencing while sheltering in place. This will allow us time in-between services to sanitize everything. We will now be able to offer the service of the liturgy online.  This liturgy will be prerecorded for your convenience and available on this website, Facebook, or Youtube.

Worship Places-

  • Indoors: In order to maintain social distancing, we will have 50 people in the sanctuary, providing opportunity for us to still be 6 feet apart. The pews will be intentionally marked to ensure safe social distancing practices.  If two or more households occupy the same pew, please maintain no less than 6 feet separation. In additional to social distance markers we will also provide safely handled communion kits to assist with where to sit for service. We will also have additional seating available in the fellowship hall to ensure safe practices. Opportunity to follow on the live video feed is available.

  • Parking lot: For those not ready to be indoors but still want to participate in worshipping together...we will have the opportunity to listen from the parking lot via radio or tune in to our online live stream. Communion will be available for the parking lot as well.

  • Online Worship: We will still be offering the live stream of the service for those of you who are not yet ready to join in the return to public worship or are joining us from a distance. We encourage you to continue to make use of this service.

Registering to worship indoors- In order to ensure safety for all and to be best prepared that we may maintain safe distances. Feel free to contact the church office (708) 748-0558 or click here to confirm your attendance.

Health and Safety- We’re asking everyone to wear masks inside the building. If you are unable to wear a mask we invite you out of love for your neighbor as yourself to take advantage of our worship by radio in the parking lot or our online services. Hand sanitizer will be available.  If you are feeling ill, have a fever, show any symptoms of COVID-19, please out of an abundance of caution, worship from home until you are feeling better.

Once service has ended: an usher will dismiss each pew individually in an attempt to continue practicing social distancing.  We will avoid standing in the center aisle.  Unfortunately, fellowship should be guarded against becoming social gathering.

Additional aids for returning to worship: For those returning to the sanctuary offering will be collected at the rear of the sanctuary. For those worshipping online; we encourage you to continue with your online contributions or mail them to the church. For those worshipping by radio in their cars; we will be able to collect your offering when communion in distributed to you.

Please be prayerful and patient as these practices will be subject to change as the state of Illinois goes through its reopening phases. We will make every effort to keep you informed as changes occur. Please be sure to fill out your connect card so that we can keep connected with you.

Share Christ...Build Hope

Immanuel Richton Park is a small, big impact church that has been a part of the Richton Park community since 1852. Our mission at Immanuel is to Share Christ and Build Hope in Richton Park and our surrounding communities. From our food and clothing pantry to Back2School Bash, weekly Bible studies to 4/5 Sunday service projects, our heart is to bless others as God has blessed us.
We are a part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. What does this mean? It means we believe in the Holy Trinity (One God in three Persons), we believe that we by nature are sinful and in need of a savior...and that savior is Jesus Christ. We believe He took our sins as His own, died for us so that we may have eternal life. We believe the Bible to be the inerrant Word of God.
We are not perfect, nor do we claim to be. We know that sin is a constant struggle for us all...and we are thankful for the daily renewal that can be found in Christ. Amen!
